National standards: everybody's talking about it
Education Sector will host a March 10 panel debate on national education standards. The event will take place at the National Press Club's Holeman Lounge. Registration begins at 9 a.m. (refreshments will be served); the debate will commence at 9:30 and is set to end at 11. Discussants include (among others) Education Sector's Kevin Carey and Thomas Toch, and Fordham's Mike Petrilli.
National standards get international tutoring
Fordham's May 5 conference, "International Lessons about National Standards," is quickly filling up. This affair will be held at the Capital Hilton in downtown D.C. and explore lessons-learned about national standards from our international neighbors. Education Secretary Arne Duncan is the keynote speaker; Michigan State's William Schmidt will offer major new findings.
