Rhode Island's new funding formula

Rhode Island's new funding formula
6.17.2010

Deborah Gist continues to make important progress in Rhode Island. The state has a new student-driven funding formula. Projo praises it here.

In an op-ed, Cumberland mayor and Mayoral Academies leader Daniel McKee explains the thoughtful work (by state leaders, Bryan Hassel, Marty West, and many others)?that went into getting this new formula in place.

Weighted student funding formulas (which TBFI wrote about several years ago in this very good report) are not only fair and sensible, they facilitate many other reforms (advancing charter schooling, improving teacher compensation, etc.).
