There's a big fight at the Niagara Falls Board of Education, where it seems that a preferred perk of membership is getting a wife, daughter, son, or other relative a job with the schools.
According to the Niagara Gazette the depth of the nepotism came to light when a dissident board member objected to the manner in which the daughter of the school district's attorney was hired by the district?apparently, a few qualifications were waived by the Superintendent without telling.
In the Freedom-of-Information-Act fallout that ensued, however, it appears that this was not such a big deal; most of the board members in this 7,000-student, $128-million operation have relatives working for the district.
There should be a law?or is there??You would think that there could be some people running for their barrels when the mist clears on this one.
But maybe not.??Our philosophy,? according to the district's home page, is ?Learning for All? Whatever It Takes.?? I guess so.
