Central Falls High School, the embattled Rhode Island school that made headlines this past spring when the district's superintendent and school board attempted to fire all the teachers and school administration, has spent $44,000 because of teacher absences since September. The Providence Journal reports that there hasn't been a single school day since September 1, 2010 when all of Central Falls' eighty-eight teachers have shown up to teach their classes.
On Fridays, over 20 percent of the teaching staff plays hooky.
Glad to see that the threat of losing their jobs plus the turnaround effort of superintendent Francis Gallo has had no impact whatsoever on the motivation or care that Central Falls teachers show toward their students' education.
