There are a variety of ways for people from nontraditional backgrounds to enter teaching, from state alternative certification policies to programs like Teach for America and the American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence (ABCTE). But is it enough? Much has been written, but still more could be done to make teaching a practical option for everyone up to the challenge, not education majors alone.
