This afternoon at 4:30 Fordham is hosting our second "Great Debate," this one on the "Broader/Bolder" manifesto. (Video of our first Great Debate is here.) Combatants (I mean participants) include:
- ???Mike Smith, former deputy secretary of education in the Clinton Administration
- ???Peter Edelman, former assistant secretary of health and human services in the Clinton Administration
- ???Gene Hickok, former deputy secretary of education in the George W. Bush Administration
- ???Doug Besharov, social welfare studies scholar, AEI
Smith and Edelman are arguing in favor of the broader/bolder approach, and Hickok and Besharov are arguing against it.
The event is already oversubscribed; "attendee number-five" has already offered us a lot of money to let him off the wait-list and into a seat. But we don't play those games here at Fordham! Instead, I'll be live-blogging the event for your at-home or at-office enjoyment. (And the video will be posted tomorrow.)
