The Thomas B. Fordham Foundation, a nationally-recognized non-profit research organization and charter school sponsor (authorizer) in Ohio, with offices in Dayton and Columbus, Ohio and Washington, D.C., seeks an Intern to assist with charter school authorizing work and office duties.
The position will be part-time (20 hours per week), based in Dayton, and may require occasional travel. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Office support
- Communicate with educators, parents, vendors and the general public as a first point of contact.
- Respond to inquiries about charter school applications and Fordham’s application process.
School support
- Provide assistance on sponsor and school-related compliance and technical assistance work.
- Attend briefings/meetings/trainings including school board meetings.
- Maintain Epicenter (online document management system)
- Provide support school site visits (e.g., prepare draft reports, conduct portions of on-site visits).
- Provide technical assistance and research analysis to school administrators and boards.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should strong verbal and written communication skills. In addition, the candidate should have:
- Superior attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service and relationship building skills.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and seamlessly adapt to change.
- The ability to be self-sufficient and be part of a team.
- Proficiency in Google apps, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint (minimum).
- Strong interest in K-12 education.

Compensation: Negotiable depending on experience.
