State report cards released
The biggest news in Ohio this week was the release of state report cards for districts and schools. The initial news coverage focused mainly on traditional districts and their overall grades. Kudos to the Columbus Dispatch for being first out of the gate with. More analysis—including proper comparisons between charters and individual district schools—will surely be forthcoming.

Staying in Columbus for a moment, here is, a dropout recovery charter school. The school can boast of at least two success stories—and two huge fans of the program—in the young men profiled here.
Seventh and eighth graders at in the Oregon District this week, which doubled as a remembrance of the recent tragic shooting there. The event, which was part of their leadership class at DLA, was covered by the local news and you can see that the awesome students represented their school and their city with pride and grace.
