Charter support up
Results from the 2019 Education Next Poll were released this week with good news for charter school proponents. Public support for charter schools has climbed to 48 percent according to the survey. Sixty-one percent of Republicans currently approve of charter schools, while forty percent of Democrats do. Most interestingly, while 33 percent of white Democrats favor charters, 55 percent of African American Democrats and 47 percent of Hispanic Democrats back them. Some important trends.
Ohio’s charter landscape
Here in Ohio, charter school enrollment is down for the 2019-20 school year. Editors at the Columbus Dispatch opined that this could be a good sign that the sector has reached a new and desirable level of stability.
