Former teachers union president George Parker penned a revealing commentary in the Wall Street Journal this week, explaining why he went from fighting against charter schools to promoting them as a staff member for the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools. “They're bad for unions,” he writes, “not for kids.”
First charter school in Montana
The popularity and success of a pandemic pivot to a fully-remote learning model in Bozeman has given rise to Montana’s very first stand-alone charter school. The Bozeman Online Charter School received state approval earlier this month in response to local families’ determination to continue fully-remote learning in the fall.
The view from Lima
Here’s a nice look at the first year of Leo Academy charter school in Lima, Ohio. The financial literacy and entrepreneurship-focused curriculum, says the school leader, has been enhanced by its location in the heart of the town square. And the square itself, say city leaders, has been improved by the presence of the youngsters. Awesome!
