  1. The headline on this story says that Ohio’s politicians and advocates are split on the best way to improve K-12 education, speaking specifically about the most recent report card data. The “split” seems to be whether to actually believe the report cards (and respond accordingly at the state and local levels) or to just send more money (to traditional district schools only) no matter what the report cards say. 2. The headline of this piece asks the question “What’s the difference between charter schools and traditional public schools in Ohio?”, likely apropos of the recent announcement of a federal funding boost for charters, although that development is not mentioned in the brief—and not too terrible—explainer. (Cincinnati Enquirer, 9/28/25) What’s funny is that every other media outlet that DID cover Madam Secretary’s big announcement is completely and ruthlessly sure of what they are. See here and here for those sordid takes.
