- You say you want another graduation story? You got it! Here’s a look at Ohio Connections Academy’s Class of 2022 and their graduation event held last weekend. Nearly 450 seniors received their diplomas and grads this year earned more than $3.1 million in scholarships and awards. (Just sayin’.) Valedictorian Yasmeen Fleifil of West Chester, Ohio, said she chose OCA because she needed a more flexible schedule that enabled her to also take college courses. “Ohio Connections Academy allowed me to complete my lessons on my own time and the structure of my lessons worked well for me,” she said. “I really liked my monthly homeroom calls as it really gave me a chance to get to know my teachers more. They were always motivating and willing to help.” Sounds just right to me! (Richland Source, 6/8/22)
- And we even get to include what I am sure will result in a series of great graduation stories in the future: The Greater Dayton School has an opening day. Mark your calendars for August 1. I know I will! (Dayton 24/7 Now, 6/8/22)
- Unfortunately, we have to end the week coming back down to earth with a bump (see what I did there?). An analysis of fall 2021 ELA testing data in Ohio has been released. Rather sobering. (Ohio State University John Glenn College of Public Affairs, 6/9/22)
