- Not much to talk about today and what we have is basically updates on previous stories we’ve covered. First up, the promised legislative language proposing Education Savings Accounts for families attending non-chartered, non-public (or “508”, for the section of Ohio’s Revised Code that authorizes them) schools made its formal debut in the substitute version of the state budget bill introduced in the House last week. North Coast coverage is highly predictable, including all the usual doomy talking heads and use of the word “explosion” as close to the top as possible. (Cleveland.com, 4/7/25)
- Second (and last) is a look at one of the later sessions held in Lima between business and education leaders. They are still, as we noted a few weeks ago, talking about how students can best access good paying jobs upon graduation. Lots of praise for Gov. DeWine and former Lt. Gov Husted at their CTE push is noted in this coverage. Personally, I would suggest it’s might be as simple as helping more students score proficiently on math and reading tests, but these guys have other suggestions…lots of them. Still no parents or students in the house either. So I’m thinking not much will come of this effort that will directly benefit the very kids they are discussing. But that’s just me.
