- Not much catching the attention of your humble clips compiler today, but I’m never sad when I get to talk about College Credit Plus, so let’s just do an entire edition about that topic. First up, Dayton’s Sinclair Community College reports a record number of high school students receiving associate degrees via CCP this year. That’s 89 kids, but more than 90 honors because three students have earned two degrees each and one overachiever (Google him, you won’t be disappointed) has earned three. Amazing! - We learn in the above piece that Sinclair also is rolling out the red carpet for its young graduates, giving them their own award ceremony as well as allowing them to walk with their fellow Tartan grads at next month’s commencement. How lovely. There’s quite a different vibe in this piece, however, in which representatives of a number of high-profile four-year institutions across Ohio take issue with a legislative proposal to move the cost of textbooks (it’s literally only the old school, hard copy textbooks they have a problem with) from the state/the College Credit Plus program to the institutions. I find their objections pretty funny (“Where will we store them?” “How will we keep track of them?”), and I’m sure that any young people hearing about this ridiculous dust up via TikTok (as if) will be entirely baffled as to what they’re even talking about.
