  1. In case you missed it, Governor Mike DeWine gave his State of the State speech yesterday, calling this a “time of great opportunity” in the Buckeye State and laying out his budget priorities for the next biennium to, one supposed, capitalize on that opportunity. Cleveland.com provides us a nice summary of these. (Cleveland.com, 1/31/23) There was a ton of new and expanded education-related offerings among the governor’s proposals. Our own Chad Aldis was among the many folks commenting on those education items in Gongwer. (Gongwer Ohio, 1/31/23)

  2. Cleveland.com focuses here on EdChoice voucher expansion specifically. And it’s a pretty transformative proposal. (Cleveland.com, 1/31/23) Editors in Toledo liked some of the education stuff, it seems, although none of the school choice proposals caught their eye either way…yet. (Toledo Blade, 2/1/23)

  3. At least the news department of the Blade doesn’t disappoint in regard to school choice this week: Here’s a great piece about Northwest Ohio Classical Academy, charter school started in 2019 that has grown by leaps and bounds. So much so that a brand new building will soon be under construction to help make room for the burgeoning student population and academic and extracurricular programming going on. Kudos! (Toledo Blade, 1/30/23)
