  1. The biggest news: The DEW has a director! Steve Dackin’s nomination to head the state’s revamped education agency was approved by the full Senate on Wednesday. Woot! (The News-Herald, 12/7/23)

  2. The best news: Global Impact STEM Academy in Springfield broke ground this week for its new Upper Academy, a 30,000-square-foot facility on the campus of Clark State College. The new facility, targeted to open in fall 2025, will not only allow the popular independent STEM school to serve more students, it will also allow the school to extend down to sixth grade and will be purpose built for GISA coursework with biochem and environmental science labs, an art room with its own kiln, and food science and ag classrooms which will include a dedicated greenhouse. Sounds awesome to me. Run, don’t walk, parents. (Dayton Daily News, 12/6/23)
