- Ohio’s voucher grouchers got one heck of an early Christmas present late on Friday when a Franklin County judge (go Unicorns!) denied the state’s request for to dismiss their lawsuit against the EdChoice Scholarship program. The lawsuit will thus proceed at some point in the new year. (Cleveland.com, 12/16/22)
- A second Toledo parent received a college degree this week, paid for by the HOPE Toledo scholarship program. Rodney Braziel had ended his college career one semester short of graduation back in the early 2000s. With the boost provided by Pete “Snoopy Dogg” Kadens and HOPE Toledo’s scholarship for Scott High School grads and their parents, Braziel became the first recipient to earn a bachelor’s degree, walking the stage at the University of Toledo on Saturday. “I don't care whether or not they feel like, you know, college isn’t for them, take advantage of it,” he told the Blade, “Because you know, whether or not to use your degree or whatever else, it’s better to have the opportunity, and to use it, and not have to accrue the debt than to try to go back later on.” Well said, sir.
