- In case you missed it, Fordham released a new report today, looking at the impacts of the EdChoice Scholarship Programs on traditional districts. It is fascinating to see all of the negatives critics ascribe to vouchers are, when you replace anecdote with actual scientific inquiry, nonsense. Full report is here, if you are so inclined after reading this coverage. (Columbus Dispatch, 12/14/22)
- The headline of this Cincy piece promises to tell us about “the four pandemic changes to education that are here to stay.” It’s an interesting discussion, I guess, but my list would be very different. (Cincinnati Enquirer, 12/12/22) On a related note, the superintendent of Cincinnati City Schools gave her state of the district address this week. While she does say she’s interested in changing things post-pandemic—“Let’s take it back to the basics and that’s what we’ve done. The basics,” she said. “And nothing is more basic than the ABCs: Academics, behavior, and culture.”—her ABCs don’t sound anything like the Three Rs to me. Now that would be a back to basics approach. (WVXU-FM, Cincinnati, 12/13/22)

- I have no idea how all these kids are getting to school every day, but officials at R.G. Drage Career Technical Center in Massilon are surprised and happy to report record student enrollment this year at the OG CTE purveyor. The most in 45 years. Awesome! (Canton Repository, 12/13/22)
