- We have learned nothing from the pandemic, I gather. Marysville Exempted Village Schools did not have enough building staff or bus drivers who were planning on coming in to work today, so nearly everything was shut down with less than 12 hours’ notice to families. No child care, no remote instruction, and the only transportation running is for CTE kids. We do learn in this brief notice that after-school activities (which I read as “Friday Night Lights”) will be decided on a building-by-building basis (which I read as “home games will happen, but away games, who knows.”). Make a plan, people. This is clearly going to happen again, one way or another, and shutting the doors on kids and families and turning off the Wi-Fi is still not the answer. - This is an excellent, detailed, and in-depth story. It looks at the first two years of Advanced Placement African American Studies as it is being piloted in Akron City Schools. Despite the time and effort spent on it, there’s one big detail missing that I really wanted to know: How have the students been doing in the class? (Akron Beacon Journal, 10/26/23)
