- It’s a sure bet that we’ll be hearing a lot about new NAEP test score data over the next several days. But let’s start with this doom-laden first look from the Dispatch. Declines in math and reading scores between 2019 and 2022 for students in Ohio and across the nation are as bad or worse than we feared. (Columbus Dispatch, 10/24/22)
- Since the preceding downer is likely about all you can handle, we’ll have just one more clip for today. And it is one of the fascinating variety: Bexley City Schools and the Jewish Community Center of Greater Columbus are close to inking a partnership which would allow the school district to contribute funding to upgrade JCC athletic facilities in exchange for teams in the landlocked suburb getting access to those facilities for practices and games. Of particular interest are open fields for baseball, softball, and other such sports. See? Interesting. (ThisWeek News, 10/21/22)
