- Sadly, I feel like this is probably a bit too close to journalistic grandstanding—especially given the situation and the tenor of the rest of the comments—but I will say that I’m happy to have lived to see the day when a reporter declared “I’m here for [district] and charter school families asking their unanswered questions” on the public record in front of the elected board of Columbus City Schools. Kudos from me, Isabelle Hanson, for whatever it’s worth. Kudos. (ABC 6 News, Columbus, 10/2/24) Sadly, Columbus is not the only school board whose elected members are behaving more like children than adults these days—see this 3,200 word opus of sad ridiculousness from Akron City Schools—and airing their laundry on the record for all to read. (Akron Beacon Journal, 10/2/24)
- For a bit of good news—at least from my perspective—it feels to me like we’re getting a different kind of candidate/campaign for state board seats this year. As if the folks running for the board are actually running to do the revised job the board is currently (and properly, I say) charged with doing now. Nice. (Herald Star, 9/30/24)
