- We start today with another heartwarming story of a suburban teen entrepreneur. Seventeen-year-old Will Feldman of Bexley runs a business called pausecircleplay. He sells t-shirts and stickers featuring “a distinct logo with a message, appealing to young people” according to the story. I’ll just stop there. (WBNS-TV, Columbus, 10/17/19)
- There is, according to this piece, a plan for some serious downsizing of school buildings in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District being floated right now. Personally, I might say “right-sizing”. But then I would also say, “haven’t we been here a couple of times before?”. So maybe I should just shut up. (Cleveland Plain Dealer, 10/18/19)
- Speaking of buildings, more delays and sniping in Dayton over the renovations to the district’s new central office. Despite being awash in cash, Dayton City Schools apparently tried to cheap out on the project by supplying existing drawings to architects and contractors rather than paying for new ones to be done. Unfortunately, it seems, those drawings were more than 20 years old and were deemed “inaccurate and incomplete”. This has led to a number of costly changes in the work mid-project. The latest additional amount approved by the board is more than $300,000. (Dayton Daily News, 10/18/19)
