  1. Once again, we have just one clip of interest, and it may appear at first as something of a rerun. It is the Columbus version of the charter school chronic student absenteeism story we saw in Cleveland last week, with the same false comparison of absenteeism rates between charter students (mostly urban) and all district schools in the state (urban, suburban, rural) combined. It’s the variations, however, that make this interesting. First up is that Fordham’s spokesperson (Aaron this time) is allowed to call out the erroneous comparison on the record. Second is the presence of two local charter school leaders discussing what they are seeing in terms of student absenteeism in their own schools. And third is the frank discussion of transportation troubles—and possible solutions—as provided by United Schools’ Andy Boy. A far superior version of this story than we saw in Cleveland.
