  1. Only one news item to talk about today, but it’s an instructive one. Kudos to journalist Mackenzi Klemann for digging into 10 years of academic (non)achievement data for Lima City Schools, and laying it out in a way that everyone should be able to easily understand. Personally I don’t think you need a lot of big words or fancy charts to communicate “bad bad news”, but I’m not in charge of these things. Along for the analytical ride is Fordham’s report card and data guru Aaron Churchill, who not only helps frame the data but also provides some suggestions on how things might be turned around.
