In last week’s Education Gladfly, we praised Mitt Romney for finally focusing on education during this election season (“Holy baloney, they care about education!,” March 29, 2012). While it is true that Romney did actually use the word “schools” in a campaign speech last week, we should have read the context before getting so excited. Turns out he was referring to the “schools of fish” that he chases while deep-sea fishing on his yacht. Our bad for thinking a GOP candidate would broach the subject of education this year.
