Kamren Herring is a senior majoring in political science at the Southern University A&M College, originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. Kamren is a fellow scholar of the United Negro College Fund's Student Professional Development Program under the K-12 Educational Fellowship sector and worked as an education policy intern for the Thomas B. Fordham Institute in 2025. As a part time job, Kamren mentors middle and high school students in the Greater Baton Rouge area, supporting youth in a city impacted by crime and poverty. She has a strong focus on child advocacy, civil rights, and international relations. As a student ambassador for Save the Children Action Network (SCAN), she has organized a SCAN chapter on her campus, lobbied to Louisiana senators and representatives, and led campus engagement initiatives to advance policies that support education, nutrition, and child care. Kamren has also interned with Angela Rye Inc. to gain experience in policy research, strategic advocacy, and community engagement. Her long term goal is to become an attorney for the U.S. Department of State where she hopes to defend children globally while also expanding and ensuring proper education in America.
